Progress

It’s been an interesting week. My big boy Maine Coon ended up at the vet. He got a steroid shot to reduce the swelling in his leg. He seems to be better but he’s REALLY jumpy with all the fireworks going off. I’ve got some really jackass neighbors. They were up until after midnight last night, and then started at 9 am this morning with an M80. I’ll be glad when the 4th is over. I’ll stay home tonight, close the windows and curtains and just keep kitty close and calm as I can. I don’t want him to re-injure himself.

My other cat finished his antibiotics, and I think he’s feeling better. That still didn’t stop him from barfing on my sandals at 3 am this morning. I wish I knew what was setting him off. I’d be happy to remove it. My new bedroom carpet will be getting a good cleaning today because of him.

The most important progress this week is that I’ve been sticking to a new eating/health plan. Lots of fresh ingredients, a lot less processed stuff and fast food. I got on the scale this morning for the first time in a week and it actually moved quite a bit in the right direction. That’s important, but less important than how much better I feel. Even with the sleep problems that I’m having while trying to wean off of the sleeping pills I feel better. I’m almost 7 months out from surgery, and still having my struggles medically, but I finally got my head together and decided to do what I can and that starts with putting good fuel into my body. Exercise will come in time. Right now it’s too much stress on my system. I can walk for a bit, but that’s about it. It’s all I can do to keep up with housework and lawn mowing. That will all be done this weekend, so I’ll get my exercise that way. One step at a time.
