Randomness

I got ambitious tonight and made oatmeal banana bread. Roomie will be glad to hear I used real eggs and real oil so it won’t be quite as interesting texture-wise as the last batch…  You could have cut that one up and sold it as banana scented super balls..

I roasted the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkins that I roasted yesterday. We will have pie for thanksgiving that didn’t come out of a can, and I might try that recipe I found for pumpkin and white bean soup.

My diabetic cat isn’t getting any better. He’s putting on weight, and his sugar isn’t controlled.  The vet wants to do a full day test again. That’s $200 that I don’t have at the moment, so for now I’ll just keep him on his insulin and pray a lot.

I spent the weekend with Pat. We mostly just hung out. We got out for a bit and did very little shopping. I picked up a new cutting board for the kitchen, and a few other small things. We played video games, and just talked. We both needed it. She reminded me that we’ve known each other for 26 years. That’s nearly 2/3 of our lives that have been intertwined. We’re both going through some hard things, it was nice just to escape all of that for a day.

I picked up a small hand loom and some yummy soft dark jewel toned yarn. I like the yarn a lot, enough that I may relearn how to knit to make a proper scarf and not the loose one that’s coming off of this loom. Maybe. Matching scarf and mittens would be nice. The yarn feels like suede it’s sooo soft.

Gas at the main gas stations around here is finally below $3 a gallon.  I’ve been hunting around and the last 2 tanks I bought were in the mid $2.80’s.  Every little bit helps. Hopefully gas prices keep dropping. They said on the radio this morning that home heating gas bills would only be 20-30% higher than last year instead of the doubling that they were expecting.

I’m sleeping a little better.  I think. Some nights are better than others, but the overall trend is getting better. I still do best on Lunesta, but I can’t take it for more than one night every 3 or 4. I get enough sleep to function. Most nights. sigh.

Speaking of which… g’night.
